4 Cold-Weather Approved Cafes & What to Order

To pumpkin spice, or not to pumpkin spice? That is the question on most people’s minds once fall rolls around. The autumnal concoction of fall flavors seems to come to a head in the infamous Pumpkin Spice Latte. We’re giving you the scoop on the Upper West Side Cafes offering up their own version of the perfect fall drink – one that we won’t be afraid to order again and again this fall.

Hot Chocolate at Levain Bakery

While this is our go-to chocolate chip cookie spot, we’ll be adding it to our list for when the hot chocolate cravings come around. With the weather getting colder, it’s only a matter of time before we start looking for that sweet chocolate drink. Levain Bakery gives it the 1-2 punch: the well-known and always-amazing chocolate chip cookie, paired with a creamy hot chocolate to boot.

Cortado at Da Capo

You know that time of the day when it’s too late to drink caffeine and almost the right time to start thinking about cocktails? Head to Da Capo. It’s one of the best places to get both a cortado and an old fashioned – plus, their matcha latte holds its own, too, as the perfect beverage for a Sunday stroll.

Ginger Soy Latte at Peacefood Cafe

A vegan favorite, this health-conscious cafe and bakery is located at the busy corner of 82nd and Amsterdam. Serving up delicious pastries and rice bowls, the real star of this establishment is the ginger soy latte. A delicious blend of sweet and spicy, this is one pumpkin spice latte alternative that we will definitely be taking on our next Central Park stroll.

Chai Latte at Joe Coffee

While this isn’t the traditional PSL – it ranks at a close second. Joe Coffee, a New York chain with outposts throughout the city, has added a chai latte to their seasonal rotation, and we’re so glad they did. Frothy, sweet, and spicy in the way that warms even the coldest fall day, pick one up up next time the weather calls for a scarf and gloves.
